Dream Suite Tour

Yesterday I had the privilege of touring the Dream Suite as apart of one of the events offered to me in the DCP. It was a once in a life time opportunity and I’m so grateful to have gotten to see what many don’t get to. I learned that only less than 1% of Cast Members get a tour of the Dream Suite. Can you imagine the percentage of those who don’t work at Disneyland?!

Walt had lived in his apartment above the Fire House’ spending a lot of time up there looking over Disneyland to make sure it was just how he imagined it. After he had stayed there for quite some time but he decided he needed a bigger entertaining facility for various VIPs that came to the park so he started building a luxury apartment above Pirates of the Caribbean, originally named the “Royal Suite” inspired by its location off New Orleans Square’s Royal Street. Construction began in the early 1960’s but it didn’t finish before Walt passed away so Roy decided to put a hold on the construction.

From 1987-2007 the space housed the Disney Gallery, but in 2008 the apartment opened and was renamed the “Dream Suite.” It is now used by VIP guest (aka celebrities and rich people). I was able to take pictures inside, which i didn’t think I was going to be able to do, but unfortunately I’m not aloud to post the pictures. If you want to see what the apartment looks like, Google image search “Dream Suite” and you can see some. It was really cool because since Walt designed the apartment he added a lot of special touches including a butterfly stain glass window for his wife (Lilly), Lilly’s antique water fountain and knick-knacks, a “goodnight kiss” button for his bedroom and the kid’s room, and a similar button (I don’t remember what it was called) for the bathroom for the amazing bathtub in there. Walt and Lilly’s bedroom was Adventure themed since that was his favorite and the kid’s room was Frontierland themed. He even had the famous set designer from “Gone with the Wind” help him with the apartment layout.

Although I can’t post pictures inside, I can post this picture from outside:)
